In the late 1950s after an adventurous life abroad as a dancer and missionary, Dunedin-born Shona Dunlop MacTavish (1920-2019) returned to settle in her hometown. Over the next 60 years she built a reputation as the mother of modern dance in New Zealand.
In support of the Toitū Creative Dunedin display: DANCE! Shona Dunlop MacTavish; this dance workshop focuses on a choreography excerpt from Shona's book on faith based dance: Be Jubilant My Feet; "Turn, Turn, Turn". During the two-hour session you’ll be guided through by Shona’s daughter Trina Laurence and ICDFANZ dance teacher Brittni Barroga.
This is an active participation workshop. Please wear comfortable clothes you can move well in and bring a water bottle. Dance shoes are preferred but not required. There is a morning or afternoon workshop available, both sessions are the same.

We aim to achieve this by providing resources through workshops, gatherings and online events and networking.
